Jo Woodham – Massage Therapist

Jo has been a beauty therapist / massage therapist/ reiki master for 10 years.  Jo trained under the Japanese system ‘Mikau Usui’ in Malaysia in 1999.

In recent years Jo has completed other studies such as Lymphatic drainage, Pranic Healing, Chakra balancing and Energy healing.

8 years ago Jo became a Meditation Teacher and built a business teaching and conducting ‘Spiritual Meditation’ in Melbourne.  Specialising in Reiki, Jo also gives a very nurturing, healing massage which can include Reiki if desired.  Jo works very intuitively, treatments can be customised at their time of appointment.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese Technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  It is administered by ‘laying on Hands’ and is based on the idea that unseen ‘life force energy’ flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.  If ones life forst is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if its high we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The work Reiki is made of two Japanese words “Rei” which mean ‘gods wisdom or the higher power’ and “Ki” which is life force energy.  So “Reiki” is “Spiritually guided life force energy”.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.  Reiki treats the whole person, including Body, emotions, Mind and Spirit creating many beneficial effects that include deep relaxation, feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self improvement everyone can use.  It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and Malady and always creates a beneficial effect.

What is Energy Healing?

Energetic healing is an umbrella term for any therapy that manipulates the energy circuits in our physical or subtle bodies innate healing mechanisms.  Our subtle energy systems include Meridans, Auvic bodies, chakras, nadis, this is where the cause of disease can be located.  Trauma, emotional and mental stress, false belief systems physical distress, environment stress and other blocks to our personal growth can be stored in the energy fields of our bodies, impacting our ability to function at our full potential.  Energetic Healing facilitates the healing process by clearing blocks in the energy fields, reparing and rebalancing our energy so that the body can move to its optimal level of balance from where it is able to access its inherent ability to heal itself.

What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic drainage is a holistic approach to promoting a healthy Lymphatic system.  This system is a complex network of vessels and ducts that move fluid throughout the body and is responsible for moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ fighting materials to cells when they are under attack by viruses.  Though fluid moves through the lymphatic system it does not have its own pumping mechanism hence lymphatic drainage is a type of therapy that is intended to help the body produce a free flowing lymphatic system.

This particular massage uses very light pressure to affect the superficial lymphatic vessels that lie just beneath the skin.  It combines gentle but pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes throughout the body.
